Can You Feel

Can you feel

the universe expanding exponentially

a dead grandfather’s breath

subtlety of context

and connection to outcome

what about the now

can you feel

this child’s frailty

an infinite love

human conflict

perpetual progress

and movement

what about the soul

can you feel

the absence of absolutes

millions of metaphors

in every second

leaving us trembling

and wondering

what about a bridge

can you feel

connection

perfection

at the heart of it

flowered roads

snow capped domes

of granite

and ancient stuff

what about love

not gotten just felt

Being present is work

We grab and grasp

And tell our stories

To anyone who will listen

Cling and clang

Stuff around all day

We reach and reel

And bash our heads

Till someone will listen

Mish and mosh

All our stuff together

We want and wish

And dream and drive

Linger and long

For anyone to want us

Tremble and try

To not be found out

By anyone who matters

Trounce and trudge

Through nothing

We blast off and blow up

Beat up and blow down

Take off our stirrups

Throw up and throw down

And and and and and

The moment

Is all we ever have
